The full fiberglass cockpit liner of the 2200 SR3 is constructed as a separate piece and bonded to the deck and contoured composite box beam stringer system - construction method that is 70% stiffer than conventional stringer systems, 25% more resistant to torque and 100% more resistant to buckling for optimum strength and rigidity, resulting in a smooth ride.

The Maxum 2200 SR3 is design with a large full width sun pad and a transom storage locker. The starboard-most section of the sunpad is removable to create a walk-through from the cockpit to the swim platform. The starboard aft seat comes out as well to reveal a step for an easy transition from cockpit to walk-through. The bow seating area can be closed off with a filler cushion to form a second sun pad. There are plenty of handholds, particularly in the bow where they are needed most and adequate drink holders.

Some of the things present in the cockpit are: a freshwater shower very conveniently placed inside the locker and a remote for the stereo right next to the walk-through, where it can be operated from the platform or while in the water at the swim ladder, an additional large storage locker beneath the cockpit, a huge locker under the optional port side L-shaped lounge and a huge storage space at the transom.

The helm has brushed aluminum gauges clustered in a distinctive triptych with positive-matching toggle switches for lights and horn, and a matching high-tech tilt steering wheel. All the instruments are well placed and switches conveniently located. On the port side, the locking glove box protects the stereo from the elements, and a 12-volt outlet is perfect for charging your cell phone while keeping it safe. Because the water intake to the jet pump is at the skin of the underside of the craft and the thrust nozzle out behind the transom (instead of below it), jet drives are some of the shallowest drafting craft available. But jet drives are not without drawbacks, however. The most common complaint is sucking up debris or kelp and fouling the impeller shaft, which is easy to do unless you’re vigilant about avoiding floating debris and kelp beds.

All Sea-Doo watercraft and sport boat hulls are constructed of multiple layers of fiber-reinforced resin with integrated urethane foam stringers. The modified V-hull provides precision handling and a stable platform for optimal control, comfort and security. An increased deadrise angle, inverted bell design and beveled chime improve rough water handling, wave penetration and spray deflection without sacrificing the legendary handling that only Sea-Doo hulls deliver.

From the mating of the hull and deck to the application of decals, no detail is left to chance. Each boat is then water tested and shrink – wrapped tested and shrink wrapped to be showroom ready for dealership delivery.

The 2007 Sea-Doo 180 Challenger has two mini chaise lounges and a center cushion that slides out to create a small pad. There are a couple of cupholders here as well as two rugged handholds. Under the lounges is glassed-in draining storage. The deck of the bow area and the cockpit is covered with a nonskid surface, which is a nice safety feature.

A walkway cuts through the helm leading to the cockpit. In the deck of the walkway there is a large ski locker with a tight seal and a spring that holds the lid open.

At the helm you will find a deep glove box, the standard Clarion Marine AM/FM CD player and a 12v outlet are located. Along the inboard gunwale is another cupholder, more storage and a padded armrest. The swivel bucket seat is adjustable forward and aft, but it doesn’t have a bolster.

To port is the driver’s helm with the standard cluster of instruments and switches. The driver’s seat swivels and can be adjusted forward and aft, but again, no bolster. The wheel is sporty and has a great grip, but there isn’t any tilt steering.

The rear bench has plenty of room for three with more storage under the seats. A hatch opens aft to port to reveal battery storage and to starboard to reveal more storage and side access to the engine. The engine access hatch is supported by gas-assist shocks and the compartment itself is pretty tight.

All the way aft is a large integrated swim platform with a ladder and grab handles that makes family watersports much more convenient, safe and enjoyable.

The 2007 Sea-Doo 180 Challenger has a nimble feeling in the corners and responds to the steering nicely. Prolonged turns, however, would scrub off a decent amount of speed. The 20 degrees makes the boat to efficiently cut through the chop for a comfortable ride at cruising speed. But at full speed you could experienced a decent amount of pounding while out in the rough, likely due in part to the craft’s light weight. Its smaller size and relatively low horsepower also makes it less daunting to operate and maneuver around the dock, which is always an adventure for a first-timer.

The 180 Challenger easily obtains a top speed over 46 mph even in bumpy water. The time to plane is impressive: 4.5 seconds, and the 180 can obtain a 0 to 30 mph in 8.1 seconds

The 180 Challenger is pretty loud at 102 dB at wide open and 97 dB at cruising speed.

The nimble little Sea-Doo Challenger 180 is meant for a specific type of boater. Its small size and light weight make it towable by any decent-sized car or truck. And new for the 2007 Sea-Doo RXP is a 155 hp engine option. Either way, you’ll be digging into turns and beating your friends across the lake with no mercy. There’s simply no letting up when a PWC handles like this.

The 2007 Sea-Doo RXP is a 2-Passenger Style Personal Watercraft "PWC" equipped with an 1494cc, Liquid Cooled, In-line, SOHC, 4-Stroke Engine. It has a 4-blade Stainless Steel impeller and puts out 215HP.

The Sea-Doo RXP’s supercharged 4-stroke 3-cylinder Rotax SOHC with intercooler features a big-bore (100mm), short-stroke (63.4mm) design. Reduced piston travel means a longer engine life. The heads are a 4-valve design because the RXP mill is redlined at 8 grand. High-revving bike engines that spin at over 11,000 rpm benefit from 5-valve heads. Premium components, such as titanium valves, add to the durability equation, but that stuff doesn’t come cheap. Bombardier, the parent company for Sea-Doo, Rotax and other brands, needed volume to justify the engine investment. In addition to powering PWCs, the 4-stroke – dubbed 4 TEC – in various configurations is being bolted into everything from the company’s ATVs and snowmobiles to Sea-Doo sport boats.

The 2007 Sea-Doo RXP’s hull is based on Sea-Doo’s GTi line. It is slightly modified with improved chine placement and front spray deflectors. The intake area is widened to process more water. The top deck is totally new, and the rider position, compared to the GTi, is moved forward for a more athletic riding style and quicker turning.

Handling aside, the RXP excels in the same arena as the old muscle cars: straight-line performance. It will take you from point A to point B quicker than any other PWC on the water.

The Sea-Doo RXP starts very easy, but the idle is way too high from the factory. Inexperienced riders will be running into everything. The boat idles at over 1800 RPM. Reverse operation is not very smooth and the reverse handle is of made of poorly constructed/supported material.

The RXP takes off like a rocket, and runs up to peak speed in a real hurry - everything happens super fast. It turns and handles great, seating is great, and the color is amazing. On a calm day it can reach a top speed of 73 mph.

Like every “mechanical machine” build by men the Sea-Doo RXP has some good and some bad points.

Good points: it’s dependable, handles well at all speed, fast and can jump clear out of the water over small waves.
Bad points: sprays a little at low speed and can break down without a warning.

The 2008 SX230 High Output is powered by a pair of 160 horsepower four-cylinder four-stroke MR-1 marine engines, legendary for their reliability. The internal propulsion system is one of the most important features of the SX230 High Output. Aside from mechanical simplicity and the ability to put the boat on plane very quickly, it offers two other major benefits: there’s no exposed propeller, so you can eliminate the associated fear and anxiety and a shallow draft and minimal risk of damaging running gear should you go astray.

Four individually adjustable throttle bodies, throttle position sensor (TPS) and intake air pressure and air temperature sensors supply the optimum air/fuel mixture. The results are a smooth, high power output with low fuel consumption and low exhaust emissions. The lubrication of the engine uses two oil pumps to deliver and return lubricated oil to each moving part of the engine with water-jacketed sump and oil backflow protection. The ignition timing, fuel injection mapping and engine diagnostics are controlled by an integrated, computerized management system. The engine is protected from harmful galvanic corrosion by sacrificial zinc anodes. Stainless steel fasteners (nuts, bolts, hardware) provide a long service life. Cylinders, cases and heads are all treated with a durable oxide coating to form a barrier between corrosion and expensive engine parts.

The propulsion system with three-blade stainless steel impeller is designed to maximize water flow for high performance. The twin pump configuration provides excellent hook-up and smooth acceleration. A combination of zinc and copper alloys, developed by Yamaha marine engineers, that offers excellent corrosion protection for the propulsion system. For high durability of the propulsion system the Yamaha engineers designed a cooling water intake filter that filters out harmful debris that could cause blockage of important cooling water passages.

The 2008 Yamaha SX230 High Output has a real nice profile, and its relatively high freeboard provides a feeling of security when on board.

The hull and deck are constructed of multiple layers of fiberglass with sandwich core construction reinforcements. The fiberglass layers are separately constructed – a revolution in boat design – combining the floor, stringer, and engine mounting system. The boat is constructed from a custom blended polyester resin with engineered fiberglass laminates and 3/8 in. 6061-T6 aluminum plate for the engine mounts. The liner is bonded into the hull with polyurethane adhesive and then injected with foam to provide maximum floatation as well as longitudinal and lateral structural rigidity. The deck is then fastened to the hull with both mechanical fasteners and polyurethane adhesive giving this revolutionary semi-monocoque fiberglass structure unsurpassed strength and rigidity.

Engine temperature is monitored via a closed loop cooling system that utilizes the PWC’s aluminum ride plate as a heat exchanger. This keeps the engine and its coolant at the ideal operating temperature. It does not use external water which means that it helps limit corrosion. This is of benefit to those who’ll use their craft in saltwater areas.

See-Doo prefers a supercharger because it’s driven by the engine itself, and therefore produces instant acceleration. The intercooler simply cools the air before going into the cylinders, increasing efficiency for even more power.

GTX Limited includes a “learning key” safety lanyard that limits the engine to around 5000 RPM, or about 35 mph.

While the engine may be big on performance, it’s certainly not big on sound thanks to Sea-Doo’s D-Sea-Bel sound reduction system. This system uses a combination of vibration absorbing components, foams and resonators to give you a quieter ride.

For 2007 Sea-Doo has refined the GTX Limited with a new facelift and ergonomic changes. The gauge console is raised for better visibility and a more aggressive appearance. Those that like to stand will appreciate the new wider and taller handlebars in addition to the tilt steering.

This watercraft has more posh features than any other model. Two of the most important ones are the portable Garmin GPS that clips into the glove lid and the built-in depth gauge that should help reduce the amount of sand and rocks sucked up into the pump when in unfamiliar waters.

At the deck everything is visible at a glance, with both analog and digital speed and tachometer displays, depth, fuel level, compass heading, and temperature always posted, important during high-speed evasive maneuvers, as are the dual rear-view mirrors.

The storage space of the Sea-Doo GTX Limited will definitely satisfy your needs. The jet ski has 53 gallon storage compartment: a removable tray on top, keeping important items close at hand, a small backpack lashed into the lid, and a removable soft-sided cooler, log book, safety package, and a watertight, crushproof dry box in the tray, although they could have made the dry box a bit bigger, it only fits a wallet, keys, and cell phone.

The GTX Limited is a joy to ride. The touring seat is comfortable and well cushioned, and the riding position has been further improved via a wider and higher handlebar set-up. The steering column is also tilt adjustable, so you can set yourself up for maximum comfort and adjustable mirrors increase the rider’s field of view.

The boat handles incredibly well and won’t hop around when you’re really on it. The craft is very easy to maneuver, plus the amount of storage is very helpful. You won’t even get wet unless you jump in the water or there is some serious chop! It performed like a dream. A digital information centre sits just forward of the handlebars and reports on 19 key operating features. The Off Power Assisted Steering System assists maneuverability while the Sea-Doo Learning Key system will allow novice riders to learn to ride with greater confidence and control.

The 2007 Sea-Doo GTX Limited can reach a top speed over 65 mph on a clear day and accelerated from 0 to 30 mph in just 1.9 seconds.

The GTX Limited has one problem: every time the craft is ridden in rough water the supercharger may blow up. I hope that See-Doe will fix this problem whit the next models.
